Inside the first six weeks of That Million Dollar Bash

I wanted to send a status report to paid subscribers to let you in on the successes and challenges from the first month and a half of publishing That Million Dollar Bash.

First, Thank You! There are fourteen of you: blood relatives, family friends, music friends and complete strangers. You are the exceptional 1.1% of our 1,200+ subscribers. Even though you are small in number, your generous commitment to this undertaking means $1,500 in annual revenue.

I only expected to publish about once a month, but the Substack platform has opened up an opportunity to do something that just putting pictures up on Instagram or Facebook can’t do. We’ve published five features following the introductory post: our newly produced first feature with Kelly Finnigan, plus four more exploring the archive with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Patti Smith and Sugar Pie DeSanto.
